| A group of
modelers belonging to the "Grand Valley Flyers" were invited
by Walter Schilling, in the late 1970's, to fly from a field located on
his farm close to Cambridge. Late in 1980, this group decided to form
a new club.
The club was to be called "The Cambridge Model Aero Club".
This name was suggested by Al Bull, who had been a member of the local
Galt club during the 1940's and 1950's. The name of the Galt club had
been the "Galt Model Aero Club".
Since a number of the members of the new club were ex Galt club members,
it was thought appropriate to exchange the name "Cambridge"
for "Galt" to reflect the the change that had taken place when
the three towns of Galt, Hespeler and Preston were formed into one municipality. |
